About us

d. Sheet metal workes of Annuparpalayam and Coimbatore.

They are traditional parath makers. Help was given on the design front and the crafts person was also sent to Bangalore for the Shilpa Shri award, Mysore and Tamilnadu Handicrafts Development Poompuhar State Award Chennai. This is one of our ongoing projects where we make various sheet metal articles out of stainless steel, copper and brass. The articles make are trays, bookmarks, picture hooks, brass and copper place mats, wood in-lay, candle stands, display stands, mango, lotus and other kind of attractive leaves.

e. Toda Embroidery

For a few years CCTn worked with the Todas giving them new designs in making waist-coats, dupattas, runners and table mats. Since they had technical and financial support from Co-operatives CCTn withdrew from the projects.

f. Bhavani Jamakalams

CCTN has worked with the Bhavani jamakalam weavers helping them to convert their jamakalams into shopping bags, duffel bags etc., CCTN helped indentify markets for them.

4. OUR ONGOING PROJECTS

a. Stone-Craft

Since the year 2000 we have been helping the craftsmen of Thiru Muruganpoondi and Sathyamangalam with designs for contemporary use. They were also introduced to local architects as well.

b. Avinash and Uuthukuli olai crafts

Products made of palam leaves such as mobiles, thorans, figures of animals and mini-gift baskets are made by a handful of villagers in the Uuthukuli area and by 2 families in Avinashi, both in Coimbatore district. We have been working with them in areas of design development and marketing, so as to expose their craft to the people.
