2. CRAFT CLASSES IN SCHOOLS.

From the time of it's inception CCTN has been conducting crafts classes in schools. The craft classes in schools. The crafts demonstrated were a. olai craft, b. terracotta, c. flower craft and kalamkar.

3. CRAFTS THAT WE HAVE WORKED WITH OVER THE YEARS

a. Some hand-loom weavers of Negamam and Coimbatore. These weavers were encouraged to revive very intricate weaves for contemporary use. This resulted in their weaving panels for use as runners, floor cushions and wall panels titled "Heritage Weave". This brought them bulk orders of the same for export. We have also encouraged them to revive the traditional cat's paw weave of Negamam.

b. Lambardi Embroidery

We tried working with the Lambardi women of Mettur by setting up a full time work-shop and a supervisor to enhance their embroidery skills, unfortunately they were not interested, since they earned more as farm laborers.

c. Kurumba kambili of Kalangal.

With the help of the office of the Salem DCH., we had got a work place organised with better looms to refine their weaving methods, but they being partially nomadic this endeavour of ours did not succeed. In order to find alternate markets for those they had made on their narrow looms we got them vegetable dyed and block printed to be used as dhurries.
